Nepenthe is a word rooted in Greek mythology, a “not-grief” potion said to quiet sorrow and bring a sense of peace. It speaks to the idea of release, softening what weighs on us.

It’s also reflected in the Nepenthes plant, a carnivorous plant that survives through balance, forming mutual relationships with bats.

Nepenthe jewelry is created to hold meaning, as a marker of love, memory, or becoming and to be worn as something grounding, intimate, and enduring. 

 

 

 

Ashlyn: Design & Craft

Art has always been part of my life, but jewelry found me at sixteen. For my birthday, my grandmother, a collector of handcrafted pieces, wanted to gift me a ring. When it came time to pick out my birthday ring, none of the big box jewelry stores had something that I loved. My grandmother remembered a unique ring she had locked away, it was a custom design she had made by a jeweler in the 70s. The gold mounting was a carved like a labyrinth, woven around a lustrous pearl. As soon as she gifted it to me, I was enamored with the beauty and craftsmanship of custom jewelry. Now, when I wear that ring, I am reminded of my grandmother and I smile at the thought a ring thirty years older than me, was created for my soul. That moment marked the beginning of something enduring, shaping not only my aesthetic but the way I understand jewelry as both personal and symbolic.

Since then, I’ve immersed myself in silversmithing, developing my skills through hands-on experience and formal design work. I’ve spent time designing custom engagement rings, learning to balance technical precision with sentiment and individuality. I’m continually exploring new techniques in both production and design, refining a process that allows each piece to feel considered and unique. My work is rooted in the belief that jewelry should hold meaning, becoming something to be worn daily and cherished for years to come.
